Here's a release from the local party:
Responding to a call from the National Council of La Raza for nationwide candle light vigils in support of President Obama’s “Dream Act,” the local Manatee County Democratic Party announces a candlelight vigil Tuesday, December 7th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the old Courthouse at 1115 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida 34205.
The “Dream Act” gives a legal path to citizenship for children brought to the U.S. from infancy to their early teens. These children, through no fault of their own, committing no crime, grow up American in everything but name only. After high school these children may not legally attend college or seek work and are often deported to countries where they have no family, connection or recollection. This legislation will be part of the total picture of humane immigration reform.
Several groups will be in attendance in support of the legislation including the Florida Immigration Coalition, the Sarasota-Manatee Farmworkers Supporters, and the Just Faith Ministries. Bring signs and candles. Members of the media are welcome.
"no fault of their own"... is there fault? who's? their parents? "legal" US citizens? here's my dream - i dream someday people will come to this country legally.

ReplyDeletenot sure how anyone can oppose the Dream Act, but the haters find a way. It offers citizenship to young people who serve in the military. How can you be against this? Although I'm sure you have no idea what the Dream Act even means.
ReplyDeleteTo answer your questions - can it be the fault of an infant or young child if their parents bring them into the U.S. illegally?
La Raze means The Race and that says it all. No more illegal immigrants bankrupting the usa. No dream act no more amnesty for criminal illegal aliens. The whole bill is filled with lies and back door amnesty for millions and millions including the families of the dream acted illegals.
ReplyDeletethe facts on the Dream Act, not the right wing b.s. (from the St Pete Times)
ReplyDelete"The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act would allow children brought to the United States by illegal immigrants to obtain permanent legal status if they complete two years of college or enlist in the military. There are currently several versions of the DREAM Act kicking around in Congress, but under the version introduced in March 2009, people under 35 who arrived in the United States before the age of 16 and have lived here at least the last five years would be able to apply for legal permanent resident status on a conditional basis if they have obtained a U.S. high school diploma or GED. That conditional status would be upgraded to permanent after six years if they successfully complete at least two years of college or military service and if they maintain "good moral character."
The dream act is a nightmare waiting to happen. With unemployment at just under 10% the answer is to round up the illegals and their off spring and send them back to where ever they came from. The front door for a legal approach or a bus ride home is the answer.
ReplyDeleteArizona has been dealing with this problem for a long time; every state should follow their example.
DREAM act, it was named this to try and evoke sympathy, do not get sucked in...He Anonymous, read it......just like the crap health bill, the libs just read a paragraph or two and they think it is a great idea... I will not go into one of the many reasons why this is garbage except for this. THEY ARE HERE ILEGALLY....... Just think, when they are all citizens, then that free healthcare will bankrupt our country alittle more. I and the majority of America are sick of this..
